WEEK #39: CAMPBELL M.

Please tell us a little bit about yourself.

I’m currently in second year of the concurrent education program at Brock University. In high school I played basketball, rugby and hockey among other sports. I love team sports as they are great avenues to make life long best friends while learning important life lessons. Basketball is my favourite sport. With my high school team we won AA OFSAA, and while playing with the city team we finished third in the JUEL league which was a big accomplishment for a team from our region!

What qualities of a leader do you appreciate most? Why?

The qualities I appreciate most about a leader is that they are dependable and adaptable. These are important skills because teams need to know they have a reliable captain or leader in which they can trust. Adaptability is also important because leaders need to be able to shift and change their game plans for each unique situation.

How do you best support your teammates?

I think the best way to support teammates is to be a friendly face in all aspects of life, not only on the court or the field. Being positive and happy is a great way to bring up the team atmosphere.

What advice do you have for parents, coaches or sport administrators to encourage or improve sport for females?

One piece of advice I have for coaches of female teams is coach hard while valuing and rewarding hard work and effort on and off the court.

What is a quote that motivates you?

A quote that motivates me is “If you think you can or you think you can’t you’re probably right”– Henry Ford
